Dru Samia Tests Positive for Covid-19

Dru Samia has tested positive for Covid-19. The result is he won’t be able to travel with the team to Chicago for their Monday Night Football game.

Of course, Samia’s health is far, far more important than football. Getting healthy is the #1 priority. Minnesota’s assistant OL coach, Phil Rauscher, will also be unable to travel with the team because of coming into close contact with Samia.

The team has announced that Brett Jones has been promoted from the practice squad to fill-in for Samia. Brandon Dillon has also been promoted because Irv Smith Jr. is unable to play due to an injury.

With Samia out and Pat Elflein being cut, the Vikings are suddenly thin at guard. It’s possible that Riley Reiff could be put inside to LG if necessary. Dakota Dozier is capable of playing either guard position. Doing so would then allow the Vikings to either use Oli Udoh or Rashod Hill at tackle.

We offer our best wishes to Dru Samia as he recovers from Covid-19.
